Brilliant, thanks! Just as a heads up, has anyone tried Arcadeflow_78 before? Had a play with it today, that's a seriously impressive piece of work!

Ive not heard of it and cant find much o Google about it, do you have a link? I've sent you the layout too. If anyone else wants to give it a go, here it is. Just drop it in the layouts folder and unzip...

Brilliant, cheers!

Here is the Arcadeflow layout: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1EHnrADWBhn2KZKbDgD3jdgEDWsSYSAc7 - you need default directions configured in Attract Mode, I tend to use right and left to jump up and down the list which breaks the navigation. It has a really clever navigation method, you can move in between games, jump backwards and forwards or move letters up and down all just using the joystick and when you select a game you get a history view, the option to tag a game, add to favourites or search for similar games. Very smart!

Great to see an update to this, but i think ive broke mine already.

installed smoothly, when in attract mode i pressed u and from the menu chose rotate 90 degrees.Rebooted and now i cant do anything. The u key does nothing, but escape lets me exit attract which obviously leaves me staring at a black screen.Any idea what ive done?

Check the key config for the utility menu, tab-plugins-utility menu, at the top you can change it to whatever you like, u was just the default, the idea is to use on a cab, the service button is ideal which is F2

Edit: checked the image and I had indeed left my default of F2 on the vert modes, sorry about that
smiley9.gif

I've corrected and am uploading the image again now - you can just change it manually to U from F2 in 90 and 270 modes, that's the only change made. Should be uploaded by 9:30am for anyone else.

I've found that if Attractmode doesn't want to play, go into the attract folder and delete 'attract.am' and 'script.nv' and then rerun attractmode.

There's an upgrade package available if you don't want to reinstall from scratch, download the file from this link: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1PlkO2vgqtiXu9ZswQDOdOlk3KAEZUnKN

Unzip the update file using 7zip to a USB drive

Use the Utility Menu to enable read-write mode

Once rebooted use the Utility Menu to restore the Windows interface

Once rebooted, plug in the USB stick and browse to the GroovyUpdate folder

Run the upgrade.cmd file and wait for it to complete

Once done, restart the PC and re-run the main GroovyTime Installer from the Start Menu to get back into Attract Mode

Use the Utility Menu to enable read-only mode if you use it

Be aware that controls in Attract Mode will be reset - no way around this I'm afraid so you'll need to customise them again afterwards. If you want to retain your settings, copy the input map section from the attract.cfg file in D:Attract and save to a text file, once the upgrade is done, copy that section back into the new attract.cfg file overwriting the default settings. If you've made changes in vert mode there is a separate attract.cfg file in rotate90 and rotate270.

Thanks Chunksin this is great!

Been meaning to upgrade my old C2D and I3 systems for a while

Installed on a 3020 OptiPlex (I5 4590) with an ATI 5450 in LCD mode this morning and works great with just one minor issue. The Windows login screen still pops up, can I delete the "Groovy" user manually or will this cause problems?

After I successfully installed on the first machine I tried it on another identical 3020 which only had onboard graphics this time the installer didn't give me the LCD only options. Do you still need a compatible GPU? If not what is it that triggers the LCD only options? In the meantime I'll test out with some other cards.

Sorry one last question, I've installed on a 120GB SSD not quite big enough for all Roms can I use an additional internal drive for Roms is it just a matter of changing paths or is there more to it?

Thanks

If you want to use onboard graphics, create a folder C:program FilesAMD - that will bypass the Calamity driver check. The installer removes the Groovy user for you, just create it when prompted at first boot, log in as Admin and when you run the installer, it deletes the user and auto expands the D: drive.

You can add another internal drive or a USB drive, just drop the roms into a folder in the root called roms

Could be just your default Windows sound settings? Windows may be pushing the audio down the HDMI cable (or not, if that's the bit that's not working!)

Thanks very clever re the skipping Calamity drivers, I did wonder if it just saw a driver installed.

Re sound it's a bit odd because HDMI Audio is working via Windows just not in GM/AM do you think it's worth unticking the mute system sounds setting in instant sheller or is that just literally for the Windows system sounds?

Also just noticed that sound is off (a bit wobbly) in some games, Flicky, DK, TMNT but perfect in Ridge Racer (which is a first for me) I'm using the 221 Roms and upgraded to GM 221. Just wondering if maybe they're broken in the latest MAME or if it's a settings / driver thing?

Edit:

Just to note that the Installer doesn't seem to be removing the Groovy user when using the LCD Setup.

Dunno, could be a sound setting within the mame.ini file, try disabling portaudio and setting it back just 'auto'

The Groovy user wasn't deleted? You ran the installer and the user was still there? It's the first thing it does (cmd.exe /C Start /MIN D:attractscriptsfirstboot.cmd) provided you don't already have any graphics drivers on there (which you shouldn't!) however if you manually created the AMD folder before you ran the installer you would have jumped past that step and it's expected behaviour.

Hmmm I did install the AMD Drivers as soon as I got to Windows (before the GT installer) along with chipset drivers etc.. So this is the cause of it not deleting the user in which case it's safe to just delete the user manually?

Will give the sound setting a try thanks.

Yes - the drivers are installed as part of the process so you've jumped the gun! Instructions are on page 5 of this thread. I'll have to make an updated install vid that explains the whole process but it hasn't really changed since those were written.
