Just played Viewpoint today on the Neo-Geo MVS. What a game, nasty and brutal even on the "easy level".

This is one shoot 'em up everyone should play at least once.

A triumph for "Sammy" when it was released in 1992.

Cheesefested our way through this at a recent late night arcade session, just to see the later level graphics and listen to the amazing soundtracks.
Put it this way, if there is a gamer who can truly 1CC this, they are god. After level 3 it's basically a case of using the force or something.

F355 Is cracking, It's my most played machine out of them all, perfect game for home use

I've been testing games out I've not been able to play without a Flight Stick/Throttle setup, now I have that it's great to finally get to play Afterburner Properly, have upright but when I'd got Monitor sorted Thunderblade pcb screwed up, and I'm sure throttle didn't work on AB

I like the game more than I thought I would, also played Galaxy Force which is good, Star Wars which I'd only played once in a Cockpit, Air Rescue I quite like too, going through all the games I can play in that machine now, downloaded Firefox CHD so need to set that up to play

This week I've been playing the heck out of Sengoku 3 on the Neo Geo. This is a great beat-em-up that is really 2 games in one. A 6-stage long survival marathon with high score, and a sub-game where you try to juggle mobs with the various moves to gain multiplier. So far the highest combo score I can manage is 62.

Great cab! I have to say I really like Sengoku 2 best. Just all the weirdness and variety. Sengoku 3 is a good game but you have to hit the same enemy types so many times to kill them it can all become a bit too repetitive.

I've been playing Ghouls n Ghosts a lot this week. Took me a while to get used to the 4-way stick again when I first started but I'm in the groove now. everything about this game is amazing. Graphics - check, Music - check. Huge boss holding his own head. Check!

Sat and played through Konami's Aliens late last week when it arrived, original PCB, lovely condition. I only plugged it in to test it was working! Couldn't stop playing, great game.

I've been playing a lot of Anteater. Have played it once or twice before years ago but only just started playing it seriously. Cracking game, my best score is just under 100k at the moment.

I've been playing this on and off for the last week. The more I play it the more it grows on me, there are no continues, you have to continually replenish your energy from enemies and the music is pretty funky.

It's also hard as nails seeing as you only have one life and a single mistake can screw you up. So, it's an odd one that you never hear about, but check it out :)

Oh and don't go in the water!

And yes, my screen geometry is slightly off because I'm lazymysticmonk2020-05-14 20:45:21

Having played extermination a good bit more, I have to say it's not just pretty good, it's kinda great. I'm not sure if there's any play guide for it at all, but I wish there was one. I just found out that if the leech things grab you from the water they take all your power ups away.

Haven't figured out what the big robot suit does yet, and there's some method to getting the options I haven't yet figured out.

Give it a go. It looks as mediocre as anything watching YouTube videos, it's much better :)

Yeah it's not exactly clear! If you let the demo screen play for a while it will show you what some of the power ups do, but there's way more.

When you go into caves beneath the rocks just shoot all the white boxes and get out quick before the flood of leech things come. Make sure to use any power ups before the next cave.

I think to get the options you have to grab the invincibility power up and walk into the blue dudes that disappear on and off.

Going in the water drains your health, and as said above, the big leech things that come out of the water can steal your upgrades which can be a game ender.

If you touch off the bosses they drain your energy in seconds. Once they get close to the bottom of the screen, move up and as far away from them as possible. They'll jump up, you move down and repeat.

I'm only doing it one credit at a go and have gotten as far as the 3rd boss which is bananas difficulty. I'm sure there's some strategy to it though :)

Soooo, I just watched some guy playing it on YouTube and all you have to do to get the options is walk into the blue guys. Man, that we will make it a lot easier! mysticmonk2020-05-17 23:50:57

Looks interesting! Will have to give it a go in a min. I find it incredible that there are still games out there that I've never even heard of. Came across another Taito shooter last year called Exzisus that I quite enjoyed.

This Extermination game looks really similar to a couple of Megadrive games I always enjoyed, Undeadline and Elemental Master, feels like they were both influenced by it, both great games if you've never played them.
