Started fixing battens to the walls and got on pretty well in one session doing the entire back and half the side walls.
600mm centres as advised by Alex, to be finished with 9.5mm 1200x2400 square edge plasterboard.

Those went up nice and easy, the benefits of having a nice new and flat wall. Started to cut and fit the insulation board.

First 4 sections done.

Great space and hats off to you for doing a DIY job. We're getting our garage converted by a builder and I bet you could buy enough cabs to fill yours and still come in cheaper.

Great progress, the place is gonna be cab ready in no time at this pace!

Mind you, the lineup you've got planned is a great incentive to work quickly!

I have been quite fortunate with this place, the previous owner built this garage and workshop himself not that long ago as a proper hobby space so it's been put together very well for someone like me to come along and pretty it up a bit. I'm right on the limit of my DIY abilities here so it's just as well it's not any more complex or I'd have been employing a builder as well.

Here's where it really starts to look different. So first half of the back wall has been insulated, next up I fit my vapour barrier in place.
muddygar2-25.JPG

And then get the first 2 sheets of plasterboard up. It really started to brighten up and feel like a room once I got to this point.
muddygar2-26.JPG

It really flew up as the walls are nice and true and the plasterboard didn't need any trimming at all!

Next section of insulation

And another 2 sheets of plasterboard

Went around the corner on to the right wall.

Plasterboard goes up and I fill the gap on the back, first piece I've had to cut which made it easy. Now it's really starting to take shape and looks a lot bigger than when I started!

Olly, this is one of my favourite threads to keep watching;

I love the new space, but love the fact that you are doing it yourself even more and the photo threads are great for us "one day" dreamers.

I would love to have a garage that wasn't full of "genuine" kids toys and paraphernalia and washing machines and tumble dryers and fridges and freezers and hoovers and 42 coats and 68 pairs of boots, etc, etc, etc!!!

Keep up the good work, looking forward to watching it develop and the floor plan for the new layout looks great with some top cabs listed.

Good luck

Neil
