Just seeing if I can 'make it work', then I'll let you do the magic on it. Been sketching things on paper and staring at photos for too long this evening to not give it a shot

Coolness, anything more I can clear up more than happy to, seeing as I'm not adding any value to the actual schematic/layout thing.

Still feels a team effort

Schematic-wise, there's a few signals on the original that are joined by net names, rather than lines. I had to take some provisional guesses on some of them (ACZERO, etc), as they're just smudges.
Naoki might have validated some of them when routing, but I think we've got some confusion around IC2 (there's comments on the schematic).

We still also new to source a heatsink or the TO-220 triacs. Needs to fit the solder mounting holes and come from Farnell or RS (or we get something close and add an extra set of mounting holes).

All the digital routing seems to be done. Power polys are finished on the digital portion.

Having said that I'm convinced ACZERO and !ACZERO are flipped. The routing does not make sense compared to PCB picture and how the board flows.

Also can we turn off thermals or prefer to leave them on? Either way doesn't affect me, just the original had no thermal relief

Otherwise I see only the power driver portion to go!

Looking great! I'm ok with losing the thermal reliefs - it's unlikely to be me soldering them all up

Does beg the question - will folk want all ICs socketed for convenience?

I've done a little more on the power circuit. Thought I had found a heatsink, but there's a bit of a clearance issue

I should also mention that I've been creating parts for the original components, even if they're obsolete - seemed the easiest way.
So at some point we'll have to create a manual parts list - would be good to get 2 or 3 alternatives for some things.

Oh and I've not yet added the alternative tracks for allowing an alternative to the TLP511 - when I do, it'll mean we'll have to adjust the routing slightly (as there's no pin-for-pin alternative).

Thanks - I was actually wondering what space there is around it.

Unfortunately they're overlapping on the PCB. The cases are also 'live' (as they're bolted to the tabs on the TO220s) so they'll have to have a fair clearance.

At least it won't short the mains out if they ever touch, it'll just connect one motor to the other.

The originals look like a fairly substantial bit of metal, but in a narrow footprint. Might be that we don't need something as chunky if modern Triacs are more efficient - not looked yet.

I'll leave it for now and try to put the other parts down.

There's acres of space in the outrun cab, but to be sure I'll measure the clearance. It's also surrounded by wood, not metal in case of any short worries. Space harrier I dunno about unfortunately. Anyone able to comment?

Thanks - loads of space.
Not expecting anything like the image I posted though - I'll hopefully find something resembling the original - it's the width that's the challenge, more so than the height.

Maybe help with the polys on the power portion? Theres a lot of thick traces polys might be easier to use with

Sorry try as I might I could not work out what you mean. Due to my lack of knowledge of course.
